Liberty County Jailer Fired After Inmate Escapes from Kingwood Hospital

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office has terminated a jail correctional officer following an internal investigation into the July 18th escape of inmate Yorlan Rafael Reyes from HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. According to LCSO, Reyes, 31, escaped custody around 5:30 AM while being supervised by a Liberty County Jail correctional officer at the hospital.

The sheriff's office said the correctional officer was placed on administrative suspension after the escape. Following an internal review, investigators reportedly determined the six-year jail employee violated multiple jail policies during the transport and supervision of Reyes, leading to the employee's termination. The search for Reyes remains active. LCSO said multiple agencies are assisting, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Anyone who sees Reyes or has information about his whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
