Hockey Lady where are you? I know this is going to be a stretch but it can't hurt to ask! I visited Shouting Grounds a few weeks ago and the young woman at the register mentioned that she played hockey. My son has started really getting into watching the Stanley Cup playoffs and I was curious if there is a local ice hockey league around 'these parts' that have games we could go watch. I did see that the "Houston Bulls" are going to be starting up in "Houston" (Richmond, and hour and a half away) next year but that's going to work.

@MooMaw :
Thank! I'll post on KDC and TWTX also, just kicking every tire in the produce aisle.

I am not the hockey lady. Reposted from KDC. I know a thing or two about ice hockey.
Pictured here are my patches for the 13 seasons I spent as an ice hockey official for USA Hockey.
I officiated here in the greater Houston area for a couple of seasons after many years in CT. I 'retired' after sustaining a knee injury in 2014.

@Abberatia :
I also coached youth ice hockey for 11 seasons, 6 with boys'/girls' teams and 5 seasons with girls only. Yes, girls' hockey is a real thing up north.
My DD played since she was 6 and turns 40 this year. She tried out for the US Women's Olympic Team back in 2005 for the 2006 Olympics.
I have achieved the highest level of coaching certification offered by USA Hockey.

@Abberatia :
This is not the time of year for ice hockey locally. Seasons typically run from mid-September to mid-March. The choices for open skating are very limited in Houston, a city of about 4,000,000 in the region.
Since I have moved to TX, two of the ice rinks have shut down. Space City Ice Station in Clear Lake closed in 2014.
www.facebook.com/spa cecityice/ Memorial City Ice Rink closed recently. There is some noise that there MAY be a possibility that it will open, just don't hold your breath.
www.iceskatememorial city.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your choices for ice rinks in the area are as follows: Aerodrome near 249 and 1960.
aerodromes.com/ Sugar Land Twin Rinks near First Colony Mall.
www.sugarlandice.com /index.html Bellerive Ice Rink in Sharpstown.
belleriveice.com/ Ice at the Galleria. No games played here.
www.iceatthegalleria .com/ Spirit Ice Arena in College Station.
